The camshaft is a component of the piston engine. It is specially responsible for driving the valve to open and close on time. The function is to ensure that the engine draws in the fresh combustible mixture during the operation and discharges the burned exhaust gas out of the cylinder in time. During operation, the camshaft is subjected to tremendous friction and, therefore, wears faster. To this end, many manufacturers use medium frequency induction heating equipment for quenching heat treatment. Today, we don't talk about the induction hardening process of camshafts. Let's talk about the specific parameters of the camshaft induction hardening.
Camshaft induction quenching process parameters:
1. Transforming ratio According to the structure and practical experiment of the inductor, 20:1 is taken after the process optimization test.
2, electrical parameters Power supply voltage: 400-500V. Current: 100-140A. Capacitance: According to the experimental situation, the power factor value is increased or decreased as appropriate. After the process optimization test, the capacitor is set in the 2nd and 6th gears of the equipment (from the left). The power factor is optimally 1. Power size: cam is 55-60kw; journal is 45-50kw.
3, quenching method Select continuous heating quenching, spray cooling method of quenching.
4. Tissue inspection and hardness test after quenching Physical flaw detection After the quenching, the parts after quenching were detected by magnetic powder, and no defect magnetic trace was found. The continuously quenched camshaft parts are cut along the longitudinal longitudinal line, and the wire cutting influence layer is ground by a grinding machine, and then placed in a 50% hydrochloric acid aqueous solution for thermal acid etching, the heating temperature is 65-80 ° C, and the heating time is 20 -30 min, finally neutralized with alkali, washed, and then dried with compressed air. After drying, the depth of the hardened layer is 3.2mm, the tip of the peach is 6.4mm, the journal is 3.2mm, the hardness is 57.5HRC, the tip of the peach is 58.5HRC, and the journal is 59HRC, which meets the technical requirements.
5. Reducing the cracking tendency of parts by process optimization The use of quenching medium is another important factor affecting the quenching quality of camshafts. The use of clear water as quenching medium can easily cause quenching and cracking of parts, the appearance of soft belts or soft blocks, and serious cams. The edge of the work area is peeled off like a nail. Since the camshaft has a large number of machining parts, as long as one cam is quenched, the entire camshaft is scrapped, and if it is quenched, cracks are more likely to occur. Through the test, the author used a polyvinyl alcohol water-based quenching medium produced by a company, using a concentration of 0.5%-1% and a temperature setting of 26-34 °C.
